Israel Says It Killed Senior Iranian Official Ali Larijani in Overnight Strike

TEL AVIV, (AP), Mar 17: Israel Katz, Israel’s defense minister, said Tuesday that the Israeli military killed senior Iranian official Ali Larijani in an overnight strike, marking a further escalation in its campaign against Iran’s leadership.

In a separate statement, the Israeli military also confirmed the killing of Gen. Gholam Reza Soleimani, head of the Basij affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

The latest strikes come weeks after a major attack on Feb. 28 that Israel says killed Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, significantly impacting the country’s top leadership structure.

Katz said in a statement that Larijani and the Basij commander “were eliminated” in the overnight operation, describing them as key figures within Iran’s security apparatus. Iranian authorities have not immediately confirmed the reported killings.
