TEL AVIV, Apr 12: Israel’s military has moved to a heightened state of alert following the collapse of negotiations between the United States and Iran, with officials emphasizing that preparations are underway, but no decision on military action has been made.
According to military sources, Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir has ordered the Israel Defense Forces to increase readiness and prepare for the possibility of renewed conflict with Iran in the near term.
The IDF has reportedly entered a structured combat preparation phase similar to previous operations, accelerating planning and operational readiness across all units. This includes maintaining high levels of preparedness, reducing response times, and addressing operational gaps.
At the same time, the military’s Intelligence Division is expanding its target database within Iran, focusing on military infrastructure such as missile systems, launch platforms, and supporting facilities. Officials said the move is intended to ensure flexibility and the ability to act quickly if required.
The Israeli Air Force is also working on updated strike plans in coordination with operational units, preparing large-scale attack scenarios designed for precision and sustained operations.
On the defensive front, Israel is reinforcing its air defense systems and preparing for the possibility of multi-front escalation, including simultaneous attacks from different regions. Measures are also being taken to enhance readiness on the home front.
Military officials said the breakdown in talks reflects widening gaps between Washington and Tehran, reducing the likelihood of a near-term diplomatic solution. However, they stressed that current steps are precautionary and aimed at ensuring full readiness for any scenario.
The IDF is also coordinating closely with the United States Central Command as part of contingency planning, though any potential action would depend on political decisions as the situation evolves.
