TEHRAN, Jun 8: Iranian media have reported that Israel carried out an airstrike on a petrochemical facility in Mahshahr, located in southwestern Iran’s Khuzestan province, as cross-border hostilities continued between the two sides amid rising regional tensions.
According to local reports shared on Telegram, the “Zionist enemy” targeted the Karoon Petrochemical Company in Mahshahr. The reports cited a local law enforcement official as saying that Israeli projectiles struck the facility during the attack.
The alleged strike comes as Israel and Iran continue to exchange fire, hours after US President Donald Trump called for restraint and urged de-escalation in the ongoing conflict.
There was no immediate independent confirmation of the extent of damage or potential casualties at the site, and Israeli authorities have not publicly commented on the reported incident.
The situation remains highly fluid, with both sides maintaining military operations and regional tensions escalating further following recent exchanges.
