Israel, Hezbollah Agree to Renewed Ceasefire as Israel Accuses Group of Repeated Violations

JERUSALEM, Jun 19: Israel and Hezbollah have agreed to a renewed ceasefire in Lebanon beginning at 4 p.m. local time on Friday, according to a Reuters report citing a deal brokered by the United States and Qatar following talks involving Israel and Iran.

The announcement came as Israel accused Hezbollah of repeatedly violating previous ceasefire arrangements. In a Persian-language statement posted on social media, Israel’s Foreign Ministry said Hezbollah had continued launching drone, rocket and anti-tank missile attacks against Israeli civilians despite the truce.

“Hezbollah has never stopped violating the ceasefire and attacking Israeli civilians,” the ministry said, adding that Israeli families have been forced to seek shelter while communities near the border continue to live under the threat of attacks.

The ministry argued that no country would tolerate such a situation and defended Israel’s actions as necessary for the protection of its citizens.

The renewed ceasefire comes amid heightened regional tensions and follows diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing hostilities on multiple fronts. Details of the agreement and mechanisms for its implementation have not yet been made public.

The deal is expected to be closely watched as both sides face pressure to prevent further escalation along the Israel-Lebanon border, where exchanges of fire have repeatedly threatened broader regional stability.
