TEL AVIV, April 10: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced that Spain will be removed from a U.S.-led coordination mechanism overseeing the Gaza peace arrangement, citing what he described as “anti-Israeli bias” during the ongoing regional conflict involving Iran.

In a video statement on Friday, Netanyahu said Israel would not “remain silent” in response to criticism of its military actions, accusing Spain of defaming Israeli soldiers. “Spain has defamed our heroes, the soldiers of the IDF, the soldiers of the most moral army in the world,” he said.

The Civil-Military Coordination Center, based in Kiryat Gat, was established in October 2025 as a multinational body tasked with monitoring the implementation of a U.S.-brokered Gaza peace agreement. Spain had been part of the coordination framework before the latest decision.

Netanyahu said countries that “attack the State of Israel instead of terrorist regimes” would not be considered partners in shaping the region’s future.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has been among Europe’s most vocal critics of the war, calling it “illegal, reckless and unjust,” further straining diplomatic relations between Madrid and Jerusalem.
