IRGC Threatens Tankers Near Kuwait, Bahrain in Retaliation for US Strikes

TEHRAN, Sep 8: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy on Tuesday warned crews aboard oil tankers near ports in Kuwait and Bahrain to immediately leave their vessels, saying the ships could be targeted in retaliation for reported US attacks on Iranian tankers.

In a statement carried by Iranian state media, the IRGC Navy said the warning followed what it described as “hostile actions” by the US military against several Iranian oil tankers.

The statement specifically warned tanker crews operating near ports in Kuwait and Bahrain, urging them to leave their vessels whether they were anchored offshore or berthed at ports.

The IRGC Navy accused Kuwait and Bahrain of hosting US forces and alleged that the two countries were partners in Washington’s actions against Iran. It warned that tankers in the vicinity of their ports could be targeted.

The warning comes amid heightened regional tensions following reported US strikes on Iranian oil tankers and growing concerns over the security of commercial shipping and energy infrastructure in the Gulf.
