IRGC Says US Strike on Larak Island Killed and Injured Several - Vows Revenge

DUBAI, Aug 30: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said a US attack on Larak Island in southern Iran killed and injured several of its fighters and civilians, vowing to respond and punish those responsible.

In a statement, the IRGC accused the United States of carrying out an “aggressive” attack on the island in Hormozgan province. Iranian media reported that residents heard an explosion near Larak, while the exact location and cause were initially unclear. Tasnim news agency later reported preliminary information indicating that a drone attack had targeted a location on the island.

The Iranian claims came after US media reported that American forces had struck the island after observing Iranian forces preparing to launch rockets carrying mines toward the Strait of Hormuz. The reports have added to already heightened tensions surrounding the strategic waterway and maritime security in the region.
