IRGC Says It Targeted US Air Base After Alleged Attack Near Bandar Abbas

TEHRAN, May 28: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said that it launched a strike against a US air base in response to what it described as a “hostile attack” by the US military on a site near Bandar Abbas Airport.

In a statement released by the IRGC’s public relations office and published by the IRGC-affiliated Tasnim News Agency, the force said the operation was carried out at 4:50 a.m. and was intended as a “serious warning” to the United States.

The IRGC claimed the strike was a direct response to the earlier attack near the southern Iranian city of Bandar Abbas, accusing Washington of carrying out an act of aggression.

The statement warned that any further military action against Iran would be met with a stronger response, signaling the potential for further escalation between the two sides.

There was no immediate comment from US authorities regarding the IRGC’s claims. The reported exchange comes amid heightened tensions in the region following recent military confrontations involving Iran and the United States.
