TEHRAN, Jul 12: Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said on Sunday it carried out missile strikes against US-linked military facilities in Oman and Jordan, describing the attacks as retaliation for recent US strikes on Iranian military positions.

In a statement carried by Iranian state media, the IRGC said its aerospace force launched a "heavy and surprise attack" on logistics support facilities and refueling platforms used by US aircraft carriers at the Port of Duqm in Oman. It described the operation as the third round of retaliation against US attacks.

The IRGC also claimed it struck the US Prince Hassan Air Base in Jordan, saying ballistic missiles hit the base's command and control center and destroyed hangars housing MQ-9 Reaper drones.

According to the statement, the strikes were conducted in response to what Iran described as US attacks on its coastal military facilities and communications towers.

The claims have not been independently verified, and there has been no immediate confirmation from US, Omani or Jordanian authorities.
