KUWAIT CITY, March 27: Iraqi Ambassador to Kuwait Al-Manhal Al-Safi confirmed that some Kuwaiti properties and archives discovered through search and investigation operations in various Iraqi regions will be handed over to Kuwait on Sunday, particularly at the headquarters of the Diplomatic Institute, reports Al-Rai daily.

In a statement to the daily, Al-Safi revealed the Iraqi side affirmed that this process is part of Iraq’s obligations towards Kuwait in line with the relevant United Nations resolutions. He said they asked the Kuwaiti side to inform them about the details of any missing items during the war to facilitate procedures in searching and returning them to Kuwait.

He disclosed this is in addition to the Iraqi side’s decision to reward anyone who provides information on the loss of a Kuwaiti property. He added Iraq will hand over eight tons of archives, books and other belongings; while Kuwait will hand over the remains of the Iraqi soldier who was found on Bubiyan Island upon completion of genetic tests confirming his identity.
