BAGHDAD, Jun 8: Iraq has reopened its airspace following a temporary closure triggered by regional tensions, the country’s Civil Aviation Authority announced on Monday.
The authority said Iraqi airspace is now open to flights to and from all airports, adding that it will continue to monitor and assess developments in the regional security situation.
The decision comes after Iran announced it was halting its military operation against Israel, easing immediate concerns that had prompted heightened aviation restrictions across parts of the region.
Iraq had closed its airspace for 72 hours on Sunday evening following Iranian missile strikes on Israel, marking the first such closure since a ceasefire in the Middle East conflict took effect on April 8.
Officials said flight operations will resume under close supervision as authorities continue to track any potential escalation in regional tensions.
