Iraq Reopens Airports and Airspace After Ceasefire

BAGHDAD, Apr 8: Iraq has reopened its airports and airspace following the recent ceasefire between the United States, Israel, and Iran, authorities said.

Iraq’s Civil Aviation Authority chief Bankin Rekani announced the decision hours after the two-week cessation of hostilities, reportedly mediated by Pakistan, came into effect.

Airspace restrictions and flight suspensions had been imposed across the region amid the conflict, disrupting operations at key airports. The international airports in Baghdad and Erbil were previously shut, with the latter also facing security threats and attacks.

Officials said the reopening marks a step toward restoring normal aviation operations in the country as regional conditions stabilise.
