Iran's Ahvaz Airport Hit; No Casualties Reported

TEHRAN, Apr 5: Iranian state media reported that an airport in southwestern Iran was struck on Sunday, while regional authorities also confirmed separate maritime-related incidents in the Gulf without reporting casualties.

According to the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), a security official said the Ahvaz Shahid Soleimani Airport was hit in what was described as a strike attributed by Iranian sources to a US-Israeli attack. The official said no casualties have been reported so far following the incident.

The reports come amid heightened regional tensions involving Iran, the United States, and Israel, with multiple facilities across the region remaining on alert.

Separately, the Sharjah Government Media Bureau said the situation at Khor Fakkan Port was under control after an earlier reported incident, confirming no casualties so far and saying investigations are ongoing.

In a related development, the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said a vessel captain reported witnessing multiple splashes from unknown projectiles near a ship during loading operations in the same port area.

Authorities across the region have urged caution and advised the public and maritime operators to rely on official updates as investigations continue.
