TEHRAN, May 8: Iran’s navy has seized a tanker identified as the Ocean Koi, accusing the vessel of attempting to disrupt the country’s oil exports and undermine national interests, according to Iran’s IRGC-affiliated Tasnim news agency on Friday.
Tasnim reported that Iranian naval commandos carried out the operation during what it described as a “special operation,” but did not specify where the seizure took place. The report also did not disclose the tanker’s flag, ownership details, crew information, or its cargo status.
Iranian authorities have yet to release further details on the incident, which comes amid heightened tensions in regional shipping lanes and growing concerns over maritime security linked to oil trade routes in the Gulf region.
