TEHRAN, May 2: Iran has submitted a 14-point response to a US-backed nine-point proposal, outlining its “red lines” and a roadmap aimed at ending the ongoing conflict, according to reports by Iran’s Fars News Agency, which is affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
The report, citing informed sources, said the message was delivered through an intermediary after passing through Iran’s internal decision-making process and receiving necessary official approvals.
The Iranian regime indicated that the response leaves the next step to Washington, stating that the United States must choose between pursuing a diplomatic settlement or continuing confrontation. Tehran, meanwhile, said it is prepared for both scenarios.
Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi, speaking to diplomats in Tehran and quoted by state broadcaster IRIB, said, “Now the ball is in the United States’ court to choose the path of diplomacy or the continuation of a confrontational approach.”
He added that Iran, in pursuit of its national interests and security, remains ready for either negotiations or escalation, reinforcing its position that the outcome now depends on the US decision-making process.
