TEHRAN, May 9: Iran’s judiciary says authorities have seized 262 properties belonging to citizens in cases linked to war-related accusations, as part of a widening crackdown tied to the ongoing conflict.
Asghar Jahangir announced on Saturday that the confiscations were carried out following requests from the prosecutor general’s office. He said the figures reflect actions taken since the start of the conflict, as authorities intensify legal measures against alleged security violations.
Jahangir added that Iran’s property registration authority has conducted 722 inquiries connected to arrest and asset seizure requests involving citizens during the war period.
In a related development, Iranian media reported that intelligence forces in the northwestern province of Ardabil Province arrested several individuals in recent days over alleged cooperation with foreign-based media outlets.
State-linked outlets also published videos showing what they described as forced confessions from three detainees. However, the circumstances under which the recordings were obtained have not been independently verified.
The arrests and asset seizures come amid heightened internal security measures as Iranian authorities continue to respond to wartime pressures and alleged information leaks linked to foreign media networks.
