TEHRAN, May 28: Iran has strongly condemned the recent US attack on areas in the country’s Bandar Abbas region, describing it as a violation of its sovereignty, according to the Foreign Ministry.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Iran spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said in a statement that Tehran “condemns the US attack on areas in Bandar Abbas,” without providing further operational details on the incident.

Baghaei also said Iran expressed solidarity with Oman following what he described as “US officials’ threats,” referring to remarks attributed to US President Donald Trump regarding the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

According to the statement, the Iranian spokesperson referenced Trump’s alleged warning that Oman could face consequences if it did not “behave just like everybody else” in relation to oversight of maritime traffic through the Strait.

The comments come amid escalating regional tensions and ongoing disputes over maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global energy shipping route.

Tehran did not immediately provide additional details on the reported US strike, while Washington has not yet publicly responded to Iran’s latest accusations.
