TEHRAN, Jun 28: Iran will be solely responsible for managing and fully reopening maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz under recent agreements, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Sunday.

Speaking at a press conference in Baghdad alongside Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, Araghchi said the reopening process would begin after remaining obstacles were removed and that implementation of the arrangements was already underway.

“No other country or institution has any responsibility in this regard,” Araghchi said, warning that any outside intervention or attempts to establish alternative arrangements could delay the restoration of normal shipping and increase regional tensions.

Araghchi urged all parties to respect the understandings, refrain from interfering in the management of the strategic waterway, and allow the agreed arrangements to proceed.
