TEHRAN, Jun 3: A group of Iranian lawmakers has called for the expansion of Iran’s missile range to the point where it could reach the White House, according to a letter addressed to Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei and reported by Iran International English on Wednesday.
In the letter, the lawmakers pledged continued support for Iran’s military forces and defense industries, saying they would back efforts to strengthen missile capabilities in what they described as retaliation for the deaths of Ali Khamenei and senior commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
The lawmakers also called for a hardline stance on several key issues, including making changes to the status of the Strait of Hormuz irreversible, rejecting any future negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program, securing full compensation for war-related losses, demanding the withdrawal of U.S. forces from the region, and imposing measures against what they termed “aggressors” to prevent any future attacks.
The remarks reflect growing calls from some Iranian political figures for a tougher response amid heightened regional tensions and ongoing disputes with the United States and its allies.
