Iranian Regime attacks Saudi-Turkey-Pakistan defense pact

TEHRAN, Aug 11:  Iranian hardline regime's Kayhan newspaper has sharply criticized the new defense pact between Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan, accusing Muslim governments of forming alliances against Iran-backed armed groups while failing to adequately support the Palestinians.

In an editorial published Tuesday, the newspaper warned that what it described as the “treachery” of rulers in Muslim countries would eventually face opposition from Muslim youth.

“The wave of awakening among Muslim youth will soon sweep away the treachery of puppet rulers in Islamic lands,” Kayhan wrote.

The newspaper, which operates under the supervision of a representative of Iran’s Supreme Leader, accused some Muslim governments of maintaining political and commercial ties with Israel while simultaneously seeking to confront groups Tehran considers part of the “resistance.”

Kayhan also praised Hezbollah and Iran-aligned armed groups in Iraq and Yemen, saying Muslims took pride in their activities and in their adherence to Iran’s doctrine of clerical rule.

The criticism follows the signing of a defense pact involving Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan, an agreement that has drawn particular attention in Tehran amid heightened regional tensions and shifting security alliances in the Middle East.
