TEHRAN/BEIRUT, June 14: Iranian political and military officials strongly condemned an Israeli airstrike targeting a Hezbollah infrastructure site in Beirut’s southern suburb of Dahieh on Sunday, warning that the attack would have consequences and could further complicate regional tensions.
The Israeli military said it carried out a "precise strike" on a Hezbollah facility in Dahieh, a stronghold of the Lebanese group. According to reports, Israel informed the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) shortly before launching the operation.
Reacting to the strike, Iranian lawmaker Ebrahim Rezaei said any future agreement or understanding between Tehran and Washington would require what he described as the “punishment” of Israel, warning against underestimating the significance of the attack.
Meanwhile, Mohammadjafar Asadi, deputy inspector of Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Joint Military Command, described the strike as a renewed Israeli provocation and said the attack on Hezbollah would not go unanswered.
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf also criticized the United States, arguing that the strike demonstrated either Washington’s unwillingness or inability to uphold its commitments. He said Israel’s actions undermined efforts to advance diplomatic understandings and accused the United States of enabling Israeli actions while seeking concessions through negotiations.
The exchange of statements highlights growing tensions following the Beirut strike, with Iranian officials linking the incident to broader regional developments and ongoing discussions involving the United States, Israel and Iran.
