Iranian Capital Sees Sustained Air Defense Fire Amid Drone Reports

TEHRAN, April 30: Iranian air defenses were activated late Thursday night to intercept drones over parts of the capital, Tehran, according to local media reports.

The semi-official Tasnim News Agency reported that air defense systems engaged small drones and surveillance UAVs, with anti-aircraft fire heard across western, central, and southeastern areas of the city.

Additional reports from Haft-e Sobh newspaper indicated explosions and sustained air-defense activity in southern Tehran. Eyewitness accounts cited by Vahid Online also described similar sounds across several southern districts around 11:10 p.m. local time.

There was no immediate official statement on the origin of the drones or any potential damage.
