Iran Warns US Against ‘Strategic Mistake’, Says Ball Is in Washington’s Court to Prevent War

TEHRAN, Nov 3: Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has warned the United States against making another “strategic mistake,” saying Iran is at its highest level of defensive readiness and that responsibility for preventing a new war now rests with Washington.

Speaking on Tuesday, Ghalibaf said Iran had delivered a strong and rational response to the United States while remaining prepared for possible military confrontation.

“Regional countries should know that Iran is as ready for battle as if it had its finger on the trigger, but it has given the US a strong and rational response. The ball is now in Washington’s court to prevent war,” he said.

Ghalibaf warned that any further strategic miscalculation by Washington would open a new battlefield, making it even more difficult for the United States to find a way out of the conflict.

His remarks come amid heightened tensions between Tehran and Washington following reported US military strikes against Iranian targets on Qeshm Island and continuing disagreements over Iran's nuclear programme and security in the Strait of Hormuz.
