TEHRAN, Apr 14: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian called on European nations to play a more active role in steering the United States toward an agreement, emphasizing that diplomacy remains the most effective path for resolving disputes, state media reported Tuesday.
During a phone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron, Pezeshkian said Tehran was prepared to continue talks “within international frameworks” and that Europe could help encourage Washington to engage constructively.
“Despite expert-level progress between the sides, excessive demands and a lack of political will among senior U.S. officials have prevented a deal from being finalized,” Pezeshkian was quoted as saying.
He warned that “approaches based on threats, pressure and military action” would only heighten tensions and complicate matters further, reaffirming Iran’s commitment to dialogue while safeguarding its national interests.
Pezeshkian also highlighted Tehran’s efforts to ensure secure navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and cautioned that any threat to the strategic waterway could have wide-ranging implications for global trade.
