Iran to Hang 10 More Protesters Over Isfahan Protests While 6 Sentenced to Up to 25 Years in Prison

TEHRAN, Aug 30: An Islamic Revolutionary Court in Iran has sentenced 10 protesters to death and handed prison terms of up to 25 years to six others over their alleged involvement in demonstrations in Isfahan, according to an activist-run Telegram news channel.

Khabaraneha, operated by Iranian civil rights activist Mehdi Mahmoudian, reported that the initial verdicts were issued against 16 people arrested during protests in December 2025 and January 2026.

According to the report, Romina Rahimi and Milad Boeri were each sentenced to 25 years in prison, while Hamed Mehralian received a 15-year term. Setayesh Saedi, Sajjad Abedi and Ali Bouyari were each sentenced to five years.

The case has been referred to as the “Isfahan Shohada Square” case, named after the location associated with the protests.

Earlier human rights reports had documented proceedings against 16 defendants in the case, with several facing charges including moharebeh, or “enmity against God,” which can carry the death penalty under Iranian law.

The latest reported verdicts could not be independently verified from Iranian judicial sources.
