Iran to Allow More Pakistani Ships Through Strait of Hormuz

ISLAMABAD (AP), Mar 28: Iran has agreed to allow additional Pakistani-flagged vessels to transit the strategic Strait of Hormuz, in what officials describe as a step toward easing regional tensions.

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, said late Saturday that Tehran will permit 20 more Pakistani ships to pass through the vital waterway, with two vessels expected to cross daily under the new arrangement.

Dar welcomed the move as a “constructive gesture,” saying it signals a willingness to reduce tensions and could contribute to broader regional stability.

In parallel, Dar held talks with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, urging an immediate end to attacks and hostilities across the region.

The discussions come ahead of a planned diplomatic meeting in Islamabad involving senior officials from Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Egypt, as Pakistan continues to position itself as a mediator seeking to restore peace and stability.
