Iran Telecom Retirees Protest Unpaid Benefits as Bank Services Face Disruptions

TEHRAN, Aug 2: Retirees of Iran’s Telecommunication Company of Iran (TCI), the country’s largest telecom operator, staged protests on Sunday over unpaid benefits in several cities, including Tehran, Ahvaz, Mashhad, Ardabil and Kermanshah.

The retirees demanded the settlement of outstanding payments and called for authorities to address their long-standing financial grievances.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Bank Saderat has frozen some customer accounts and suspended certain services following banking disruptions reported in recent days, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

The bank said the restrictions were introduced as a precautionary measure to protect customers’ financial assets and personal information. The affected accounts and services are expected to remain restricted until the technical issues are resolved.
