TEHRAN, Jun 10: Iran fired ballistic missiles and drones at US military bases in Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan on Monday, according to Axios, citing a US official. The attacks came hours after US forces struck Iranian military targets near the Strait of Hormuz in an operation Washington described as self-defense.
According to the US official, Iran launched at least four ballistic missiles along with several drones targeting bases hosting US forces across the region. Meanwhile, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards claimed they struck 21 US military targets, including the headquarters of the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain, Al-Azraq Air Base in Jordan, and Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait.
The reported attacks mark a significant escalation in regional tensions following the exchange of military strikes between the United States and Iran.
Nearly all of the missiles and drones launched by Iran at US military facilities across the region were intercepted, according to initial US assessments cited by Reuters.
