Iran says US strikes killed 53, injured 592 since June 27

TEHRAN, Jul 22: Iran’s Health Ministry said Wednesday that US airstrikes on the country since June 27 have killed 53 people and wounded 592 others, as tensions between Washington and Tehran continue to escalate.

Hussein Kermanpour, head of the ministry’s public relations and information center, said the casualties were recorded between June 27 and 8:30 am Wednesday (05:30 GMT), according to a statement shared on social media platform X.

He added that 535 injured people had been discharged after receiving medical treatment, while 36 remained hospitalized and 21 were treated at the scene.

The reported casualties come amid a continued exchange of attacks between the United States and Iran. Washington has carried out a series of strikes across Iran, while Tehran has responded with attacks on facilities and military bases it says are being used by US forces in the region.

The fighting has continued despite a Pakistani-brokered framework agreement signed by the two countries in June, which was intended to end the conflict that began in February and create conditions for a long-term peace agreement.
