TEHRAN, Mar 27: US and Israeli strikes on Iran have damaged at least 120 museums and cultural and historic sites across the country since the start of the war, according to a senior Tehran official.
Ahmad Alavi, head of the Tehran city council’s cultural heritage committee, said that museums, historical buildings, and cultural landmarks in multiple provinces were “directly targeted” and suffered serious structural damage.
He was quoted by state television as saying that several prominent heritage sites were affected, including the UNESCO-listed Golestan Palace, as well as the Saadabad Palace, the Marble Palace, and the Teymourtash House, also known as the War Museum.
