BURGENSTOCK, Jun 23: Iran announced early Tuesday that technical talks with the United States had concluded in Burgenstock, Switzerland, as part of Qatari- and Pakistani-mediated negotiations aimed at ending the US-Israel-Iran war.
Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi , who led Tehran’s technical negotiating team, said the four-party discussions ended with an agreement on arrangements for future negotiations, including the formation of working groups and mechanisms for implementation, according to Iran’s official IRNA news agency.
Gharibabadi said the talks followed a high-level committee meeting held Sunday to monitor the implementation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, a framework agreement to end the war that was signed virtually by the US and Iranian presidents on June 17. The committee meeting continued into Monday.
“Technical discussions were held to determine the implementation mechanisms of the memorandum of understanding and the statement issued at the conclusion of the high-level meeting, and the necessary understandings were reached,” Gharibabadi said.
The Swiss talks are part of an ongoing diplomatic process backed by Qatar and Pakistan, which have been mediating between Washington and Tehran as efforts continue to secure a broader settlement and implement the terms of the memorandum.
Iran said the latest round focused on practical steps needed to move the agreement forward, though no further details were immediately released on the content of the working groups or the timeline for future negotiations.
