TEHRAN. April 17: Iran has confirmed that commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz will remain open during the current ceasefire linked to Lebanon, signaling an effort to maintain stability in global energy routes.

Abbas Araghchi said passage through the strategic waterway is fully accessible, adding that vessel movements will follow routes coordinated by Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organisation.

In parallel, a senior Iranian military commander delivered a stark warning to Washington and Tel Aviv. Ali Abdollahi, head of the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, said the United States and Israel have “no option but to submit” to Iran’s armed forces.

Marking Army Day, Abdollahi stated that Iran’s military remains prepared to continue operations and “make adversaries regret their actions,” underscoring heightened rhetoric despite the ongoing ceasefire.

The contrasting messages highlight a dual approach by Tehran — maintaining open shipping lanes while projecting military strength amid regional tensions.
