TEHRAN, Jul 15: Iranian government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani said on Wednesday that more than 30 civilians have been killed in recent strikes targeting southern parts of the country.

In a post on X, Mohajerani said the civilian deaths occurred during attacks carried out in recent days in southern Iran.

Separately, Iran's judiciary announced the execution of Mohammad Amini Dehaghani, who had been convicted of setting fire to government and police facilities during protests in Isfahan province in January.

According to the judiciary's Mizan News agency, Amini Dehaghani was executed after the Supreme Court upheld his death sentence. Authorities alleged that he threw Molotov cocktails at the Dehaghan governor's office and a central police station on January 9, incited others to attack security forces, and attempted to use a rifle seized from police officers during the unrest.

The judiciary said the conviction was based on surveillance footage and the defendant's confessions.

Meanwhile, according to the United Nations and independent groups, the "Crimson Winter" protests in January 2026 resulted in an estimated 3,000 to more than 6,000 deaths.
