Iran Resumes Gas Supplies to Iraq After South Pars Attack

BAGHDAD, Mar 21: Iraq's Ministry of Electricity announced that Iranian natural gas flows to Iraq have resumed at a rate of about five million cubic metres per day, restoring a key energy supply after a temporary halt.

The supply interruption occurred after an attack on South Pars/North Dome Gas-Condensate field — Iran’s main gas field — earlier in the week, which led to a stoppage of exports to Iraq and impacted electricity generation.

Officials say the reinstated gas flow will help alleviate pressure on Iraq’s power sector as the country continues to navigate the wider regional disruptions affecting energy supplies.
