TEHRAN, Jun 21: Iran has resumed loading crude oil from its Kharg Island export terminal after a pause of about six weeks, Bloomberg reported on Saturday, citing the easing of restrictions on Iranian port activity.
According to the report, the restart followed what Bloomberg described as the lifting of a U.S. Navy blockade on Iranian ports. Iran has reportedly moved quickly to revive oil exports after the signing of an interim peace deal with the United States, making it one of the early beneficiaries of reduced tensions.
Bloomberg said Iran has already transported around 20 million barrels of crude using tankers that had previously been anchored near Chabahar. However, the report noted that some international shipping firms remain cautious about sailing through the Strait of Hormuz due to lingering security concerns.
The report added that at least 20 tankers of different sizes are still anchored east of Kharg Island, indicating that Iran may have more crude prepared for export from the Persian Gulf.
