Iran Reopens Key Airports, Restarts Flights to Oman and Turkey

TEHRAN, Apr 21: Iran has announced a partial reopening of several key airports and the gradual restoration of international and domestic flight routes, signaling a cautious return to normal aviation operations amid ongoing regional tensions.

According to the head of the Iran Airports Company, Imam Khomeini International Airport will begin operating flights to Oman and Turkey as part of a phased resumption plan.

In the capital, Mehrabad Airport has also been declared ready to handle a limited number of domestic flights, the official confirmed on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, airports in southeastern Iran, including Kerman International Airport and Yazd Airport, have reportedly reopened for operations after temporary disruptions.

The aviation authority also said that the possibility of launching new international routes, including a proposed Mashhad–Muscat connection, is currently under review.

The gradual reopening of air routes comes as regional airspace and transport systems continue to adjust to shifting security conditions, with authorities prioritizing controlled and phased restoration of services.
