Iran Rejects Ceasefire Plan, Sends 10-Point Response via Pakistan

TEHRAN (AP), Apr 6: Iran has formally conveyed its response to a US proposal aimed at ending the ongoing conflict, rejecting the idea of a temporary ceasefire and calling instead for a permanent settlement on its own terms, according to the state news agency IRNA.

The report said Tehran delivered its official reply through Pakistan after weeks of high-level internal deliberations. It stated that the response, consisting of ten points, was finalized following “comprehensive reviews at the highest levels of the system.”

Iran reportedly dismissed the proposed ceasefire, citing past experiences, and emphasized the need for a long-term and comprehensive resolution to the war that reflects its own conditions and security concerns.

Key Elements of Iran’s Response

According to IRNA, the Iranian proposal includes demands for:

  • An end to hostilities across the region
  • Security protocols for safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz
  • Reconstruction initiatives
  • Lifting of sanctions

The report added that the response was submitted following recent developments in western and central Iran, which Tehran described as evidence of its “upper hand” in the conflict.

IRNA also referred to what it described as a “catastrophic failure” of a US heliborne operation. It further claimed that US President Donald Trump had distanced himself from earlier threats by extending a previously stated deadline.
