Iran Ready to Limit Nuclear Activities, Denies Talks Failed Over Nuclear Ambitions

TEHRAN (AP), Apr 12: An Iranian diplomatic official has rejected claims that recent negotiations with the United States broke down over Tehran’s nuclear ambitions, insisting the country’s position remains unchanged.

Responding to comments by U.S. officials, the Iranian source said it was “false” to suggest the talks failed due to Iran’s refusal to abandon a path to nuclear weapons.

“Iran is not seeking to acquire nuclear weapons, but it has the right to nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. This right is undeniable and must be recognized,” the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the closed-door discussions.

The official added that Iran remains open to limiting certain nuclear activities as part of confidence-building measures, including adjustments to uranium enrichment levels.

However, no detailed explanation was provided regarding the exact reasons behind the collapse of the talks held in Islamabad, leaving key points of disagreement unclear.

The negotiations ended without a breakthrough, highlighting ongoing tensions and unresolved disputes between Washington and Tehran.
