TEHRAN, Oct 24: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has acknowledged that many people in the country are struggling to afford basic necessities, highlighting growing public dissatisfaction amid persistent uncertainty over the country's security and political situation.
Speaking on Saturday, Pezeshkian described the prevailing situation as one of “neither war nor peace,” saying such uncertainty made effective planning complicated efforts to address the country's problems.
He said former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei had instructed officials to bring an end to the uncertain situation, stressing the need to establish conditions that would allow the government to plan and manage the country's affairs more effectively.
Pezeshkian also identified discrimination and inequality as major sources of public dissatisfaction, questioning why resources and opportunities were available to some sections of society while others continued to struggle to meet their basic needs.
His remarks highlighted the economic pressures facing ordinary Iranians, with access to food and other essential goods remaining a concern for many households.
The president's comments come as Iran faces continued uncertainty over its confrontation with the United States and Israel, alongside domestic economic challenges. The prolonged uncertainty has complicated the government's efforts to provide stability and address public concerns.
Pezeshkian's remarks underscored the need to address both the external tensions facing Iran and the economic inequalities affecting its population.
