Iran Not Paying Large Sections of Military, Killing Protesters Even When They Are Not Protesting: Trump

WASHINGTON, Aug 25: US President Donald Trump accused Iran of failing to pay large sections of its military and alleged that the Iranian authorities are killing protesters at unprecedented levels, describing the situation as a “humanitarian crisis of epic proportions.”

“The failing Islamic Republic of Iran is not paying large segments of its military, while at the same time killing protesters, even when they are not protesting, at levels not seen before,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform, adding that the crisis “must be stopped, NOW.”

The remarks come amid continued tensions between Washington and Tehran following the collapse of a June framework agreement aimed at ending hostilities and restoring commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. The agreement provided for a 60-day period for further negotiations, including arrangements for safe passage of vessels through the strategic waterway.

The conflict began after US and Israeli military strikes on Iran in late February, with Tehran subsequently launching attacks against targets in Israel and US military positions in the region.
