TEHRAN, Apr 7: Iran’s judiciary chief has called for accelerated legal proceedings against individuals accused of cooperating with the country’s adversaries, as authorities intensify internal security measures amid escalating regional tensions.
Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei said on Tuesday that cases involving those labeled as “enemy agents” should be processed more swiftly, particularly those that could result in execution or asset confiscation.
“The Islamic Iran is exercising its undeniable right to legitimate self-defense, and we will continue this defense in the most powerful manner possible until our national security is guaranteed,” Ejei said in remarks carried by state-linked media.
His comments come as Iranian authorities have stepped up arrests in recent weeks, detaining individuals accused of assisting foreign adversaries following strikes attributed to the United States and Israel.
The crackdown reflects growing domestic security pressure as Iran faces heightened external confrontation and increased scrutiny over its internal response to alleged espionage and collaboration cases.
