ADEN, Sept 26: Yemen’s government has accused Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of upgrading Iranian weapons for use by the Houthis, turning them into guided missiles capable of threatening civilian air traffic.

Yemeni Armed Forces spokesman Majed Al-Nazili said the Houthis were launching the missiles from Hodeidah Governorate toward civilian air routes, creating what he described as a serious threat to commercial aircraft and planes operated by the United Nations and humanitarian organizations.

The Yemeni Armed Forces also released footage that it said confirms the use of Iranian air-defense weapons in operations threatening civilian airspace.

Al-Nazili warned that the reported activity could endanger civilian aviation and called attention to the risks posed to aircraft operating humanitarian and relief missions in Yemen.
