WASHINGTON, May 6: The United States expects Iran to respond within the next 48 hours to key points of a proposed agreement aimed at ending the war, Axios reported Wednesday, citing U.S. officials and other sources.
According to the report, the two sides are discussing a one-page memorandum of understanding that would establish a framework for more detailed nuclear negotiations. No agreement has been reached, but sources said the talks mark the closest Washington and Tehran have come to a deal since the conflict began.
The White House believes progress has been made in recent discussions, Axios reported.
