MANAMA, Apr 7: The Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) says its air defence systems have intercepted and destroyed hundreds of incoming missiles and drones since the start of what it described as sustained hostile attacks.
The General Command of the Bahrain Defence Force said its forces had successfully countered “successive waves” of ballistic missiles and drones, which it attributed to Iranian aggression, adding that operations remain ongoing.
According to the statement, air defences have intercepted 188 ballistic missiles and 477 drones targeting the Kingdom of Bahrain since the onset of hostilities.
The BDF said its personnel remain in a high state of readiness and praised their operational performance, stating that Bahrain’s skies “remain secure” despite continued attempts to strike the country.
The military also urged citizens and residents to exercise caution, avoid affected or suspicious areas, and refrain from filming or sharing images of military operations or debris sites. It further advised the public to rely only on official government channels for information and updates.
The General Command said the use of ballistic missiles and drones against civilian areas constitutes a violation of international humanitarian law and the United Nations Charter, warning that such attacks pose a direct threat to regional stability and security.
