Shahid Haghani port in Bandar Abbas is ablaze after a series of US airstrikes tonight.
TEHRAN, July 8: Eight members of Iran's armed forces were killed in US strikes targeting southern Iran early Wednesday, state media reported, citing a statement from the Iranian army's public relations department.
According to the statement, the fatalities included personnel from the Iranian Army's Air Force and Navy who were killed after being struck by what it described as "enemy projectiles" during attacks in the southern cities of Bandar Abbas and Bushehr.
The army paid tribute to the fallen servicemen and vowed retaliation.
"Their blood will be avenged," the statement said.
The reported casualties come amid a sharp escalation in military confrontation between the United States and Iran following a series of US strikes on Iranian military infrastructure and Tehran's retaliatory missile and drone attacks on US military sites across the region.
