TEHRAN, April 6:The head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Intelligence Organization, Major General Majid Khademi, was killed in a joint U.S.-Israeli strike, the IRGC said in a statement carried by Iran’s Fars news agency on Monday.
According to the statement, Khademi had played a key role in shaping Iran’s intelligence and security operations over nearly five decades of service. The IRGC described him as one of its most experienced and influential figures in the country’s security establishment.
The statement added that details regarding the funeral and burial arrangements would be announced at a later time.
Also, Israel claimed responsibility for the killing of Major General Majid Khademi, the head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Intelligence Organization, in a strike that targeted senior Iranian officials.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said in a statement that the operation was part of Israel’s ongoing campaign against what he described as Iran’s “terror leadership.”
“The Revolutionary Guard are shooting at civilians, and we are eliminating the leaders of the terrorists,” Katz said. “Iran’s leaders live with the constant sense of being targeted, and we will continue to hunt them down one by one.”
Katz added that Israel had also inflicted heavy damage on Iran’s steel and petrochemical industries in recent strikes. “We will continue to crush Iran’s national infrastructure and bring about the erosion and collapse of the terrorist regime and its ability to promote terror and launch attacks against the State of Israel,” he said.
The Israeli military said that Majid Khademi, head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ intelligence organization, who was killed in Tehran on Sunday, had been heavily involved in operations targeting Israel, the United States, and Iranian dissidents.
In a statement, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said Khademi had worked to advance “terrorist activities against the State of Israel and Jewish targets worldwide,” and had also taken part in efforts to target American individuals. The IDF added that he was responsible for overseeing surveillance of Iranian civilians as part of the regime’s crackdown on domestic protests, describing him as a key figure in operations conducted both abroad and within Iran
