TEHRAN, Mar 18: The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps confirmed on Tuesday the death of Gholamreza Soleimani, head of the affiliated Basij paramilitary force, following a reported US-Israeli airstrike.

In a statement carried by its Sepah News outlet, the Guards said Soleimani had been “martyred,” confirming earlier claims by Israel that he was killed in an airstrike. The Basij is a key paramilitary organization operating under the Revolutionary Guards, often involved in internal security and mobilization efforts.

The development marks a significant escalation amid ongoing regional tensions, with no immediate official comment from the United States on the reported strike.
