TEHRAN, (AP) March 24: A semi-official Iranian news outlet has reported that two key energy facilities were struck by airstrikes early Tuesday, adding to escalating tensions in the region.
According to Fars News Agency, which is considered close to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the strikes targeted natural gas infrastructure in Isfahan and a gas pipeline linked to the Khorramshahr power plant.
The report appeared to challenge recent remarks by Donald Trump, who had extended a deadline for Tehran to halt its attacks. Trump had earlier warned of potential U.S. strikes on Iranian power facilities amid ongoing disruptions that have effectively impacted traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.
However, neither the United States nor Israel has officially confirmed carrying out strikes in the reported areas. Both countries have historically refrained from publicly acknowledging certain military operations.
It remains unclear whether the reported facilities were directly targeted or sustained collateral damage from strikes on nearby locations. Independent verification of the claims has not yet been established.
