TEHRAN, Sep 22: Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization on Tuesday announced the cancellation of flights from Tehran to Baghdad and Muscat, Oman, starting early Wednesday.
Organization spokesman Majid Akhavan said the decision was linked to the two airports not accepting Iranian flights from midnight local time.
“As of 00:00 tonight local time, Baghdad and Muscat airports will not accept Iranian flights, and for this reason, we are coordinating and consulting so that flights destined for Baghdad will be directed to Najaf airport,” Akhavan said in a statement carried by the semi-official Tasnim news agency.
He said other international flights, including services to Istanbul, would continue operating as scheduled, with no disruptions reported.
Iranian authorities did not provide further details on the reasons behind the restrictions or how long the cancellations would remain in effect.
