Iran calls US claim of control over Strait of Hormuz a lie

TEHRAN, Aug 13: Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters on Thursday rejected US claims that Washington has full control over the Strait of Hormuz, calling them “baseless lies” and insisting that the strategic waterway remains under Tehran’s control.

In a statement carried by Iranian state broadcaster IRIB, the military command said US claims about the normal passage of vessels through the strait reflected the “helplessness and confusion” of the US military.

The command said the Strait of Hormuz remains under the “full management and control” of Iran and warned that no commercial vessel or oil tanker could safely transit the waterway without the authorization and supervision of Iran’s armed forces.
